Os modos de vida – uma teoria perspectiva: uma aproximação entre as obras de Dostoiévski e Kierkegaard

Abstract

I propose, in this work, an interpretative hypothesis defending that Kierkegaard’s theory of modes of life should be understood as a perspectival theory of ethics, in doing so, I intend to relativize the notion of a rigid deontology in Kierkegaard, without discarding entirely the theory’s positive aspects. To do that, I analyze both Kierkegaard’s and Dostoevsky’s works, whose toughts I consider – and I will try to demonstrate that – to be in some degree of similar. The analyses begins by an investigation of the aesthetic mode of living present on the theme of the seducer; then, it proposes a contraposition to the negative aspect of the seducer by presenting a possible positive aspect of him; finally, it presents the conflicts between aesthetic and ethics, concluding, then, by the demonstration of the advantages that this interpretative hypothesis offers when compared to the rigid deontological hypothesis – which, I believe to have demonstrated, finds problems when compared to fundamental elements of Kierkegaard’s thought
