Eleição de diretores em dois campi agrícolas do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Pernambuco: os reflexos no cotidiano escolar

Abstract

This work presents the results of a research made with the school community of Campi Barreiros and Belo Jardim, from the Federal Institute of Pernambuco, and involved the segments of estudents, teachears, technical administrative end graduates. Our aims was to investigate the reflections of the democratic process on the choice of the general directors through an direct election on the daily routine of those units of education, which belong to a federal lace of professional and technological education, instituded by the Decree 4.877/2003. Among other issues, on this research we tried to investigate: if the direct election process held on those two schools had indeed contributed to an effective democratic manageme nt; if the managers elected had implemented places or mechanisms to ensure community participatition on the school management; if the segments of the school community had have participation on the management; and if that elections and his elect managers had contributing for an advance on the quality of the education offered on those schools. The point of these investigations was to confirm or refute the theories already raised on previous researches in works published by some scholars like Vitor Henrique Paro and Luiz Fernandes Dourado, who were still based on the Freyre s conceptions for participative and democratic school. The debates about the nature of the democratic and participative school management were also present on our approach from the analysis about interviews and the study that diverse authors wrote about this subject. As a result of our research we found that the direct election of the directors, despite did help to a slightly improvement at the schools researched, above all on its physical structures and internal relationship, we couldn t confirm if these elections had actually effected the implementation of a democratic management reccomended by the guiding theories of this work or contributed for the quality of the instrution that the schools offered. We hope the product of our final conclusion work can be constitute a reference on the questions that involve problems appearing on schools from an authoritarians, centralizings, and personalists management which still exists in our schools, even after the implementation of a democratic choice of managers.
