Um caso particular de números irracionais estudado por licenciandos de matemática

Abstract

Generally speaking the irrational numbers approach during highschool years in Basic Education is restricted a few examples usually presented as roots of the numbers two and three (√2 and √3) , and the number pi (𝜋). In this project we vie to achieve a research about other numbers represented in the form of radicals √𝑛 , being n ∈ N. We analyzed the work done and discussed by students of a Bachelor Degree School of Mathematic in a Federal University from the Baixada Fluminense. The methodological procedures of the research where: Bibliography research for the elaboration, implementation and analysis of the proposed activities. For the data gathering where utilized the researcher camp diary annals, video and audio recordings of the encounters and the written answers recorded from the participants. The analysis intended to identify in which way the students classify the numbers presented as well as interpret and solve the works presented. In this way we strived to comprehend the strategies utilized in the different situations proposed by the group of students analyzed as well as elaborate from this research a didactic guide for the teachers with new suggestions of activities for the irrational number study. The results shows that students deem the constant intervals between the numbers presented when they where asked to represent them reals line showing the repetitive idea of the naturals order
