O esporte e as aulas de educação física escolar: uma reflexão necessária

Abstract

The present study deals with the investigation of the content of sport in classes of infantile education throughout the cycle of elementary education from the 6th grade of public school to the 9th one from the city of Seropédica, through the manifestations of its meanings. The aim of this study was to identify the pedagogical approach of sports teaching in the classes of Physical Education of the city, as well as the concept of the sport developed by the teachers and the influence of the curricular proposal in these conceptions. The sample consisted of five teachers from the five largest schools in number of students in the city. Non-participant observations, semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis were used as instruments for data collection. The obtained data were categorized and analyzed through content analysis. The results of the study indicate that sport is still an absolute or priority content in Physical Education classes and that the curricular proposal for the Physical Education in the city is one of the factors that contribute to the scenario of prioritization of sports content in classes. Even with the manifestation of some conservative characteristics that indicate the presence of hegemonic elements that privilege the dominant classes through the logic of the spectacle sport, it was not possible to affirm that the pedagogical practice as well as the methodologies used by the teachers, characterize the exclusive teaching of the sport of performance
