A Etnomatemática na construção de casas e instalações rurais no sítio Palmeirinha em Crato - CE

Abstract

In this paper are presented the results of a research about Ethnomathematics present in the rural buildings in Palmeirinha farm, Crato-Ceará.. We plan to make the exchange of knowledge between students in initial teacher training and the community, analyzing how the mathematical knowledge of the subjects involved in these two spaces appear making them able to act and interact socially. For this we need to describe some ethnomathematical elements present in rural facilities and see how these relate to mathematical knowledge in initial teacher training. The research methodology used is characterized as qualitative. The procedures/instruments that are part of the methodology are direct observation in the community, using interviews with farmers and students of initial teacher training, records in field journal, audio and video recordings. Through the application of these instruments was possible to collect data, which leads us to infer that the farmers who work with buildings in the community, appropriate ethnomathematical knowledge that have been generated and diffused, over generations, by the community itself, sometimes with need for subsistence and local development, now by the need to get into the professional market. Farmers who are subject of the research say that they attended little the school and that the mathematics they use in buildings, they learn from each other in the exchange of knowledge among the subjects of the community. The students of the degree reached the conclusion that it is important to validate in the school context, the ethnomathematical knowledge coming from the practice of the rural man. All subjects of research have reached the conclusion that the plurality of knowledge, institutionalized or not, enriches the knowing/doing of each subject.
