O recorte assistencial da educação agrícola como estratégia de permanência do estudante do curso integrado em agropecuária do Instituto Federal do Ceará Campus Iguatu

Abstract

The reduction in demand, coupled with the growth of evasion, in the IFCE campus Iguatu courses in recent years has provoked institutional actors to identify the causes and to build strategies to combat evasion; however, the motivations for access and permanence are not investigated. The research proposal of this study based on the lack of research on the factors that influence students' admission and permanence: knowing why they chose the institution and course, unveiling the factors that influence and interfering in the choice of institution and course, and the difficulties and facilities of their stay. Considering the hypothesis that the services and programs of assistance, especially what materializes in the offer of student residence, is a preponderant factor for both the choice and permanence, and because it is the oldest course of the institution, we choose the students of the Integrated Course in Agropecuaria as the study's target audience. The assistance that cuts across Brazilian social policies identified from the earliest days of schooling, so the theoretical basis based on the reading of Social Service and Education theorists who explain the social policies of education and social assistance. Through the qualitative research of the exploratory type, with the use of methodological data collection instruments that included: documentary analysis (legal and professional records) and questionnaires with open and closed questions, we investigated the factors that influence permanence of the student in the course Integrated in Agropecuaria of IFCE campus Iguatu, analyzing the pertinence of the assistance strategies. The analysis of the students' manifestations, interwoven with the construction of their socioeconomic profile and their adolescent status, answered the objectives. While conceiving the IFCE campus Iguatu as an institution that offers quality teaching, reveal weaknesses and point to the need for continuous research and evaluation of services offered in the institution in order to subsidize the intervention more qualified and better integrated to the student´s expectations
