Práticas de leitura na Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Codó- MA: considerações sobre a leitura escolar

Abstract

This work deals with practices of reading at Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Codó-MA, the way in which those practices are and the expectations for the reading classes, by students and teachers of the School. With the assumption of reading as social practice, it focus on reading in two main dimensions : the reading in the family or the personal dimension and the reading within school dimension. To make the questions in this research answerable, it was used some qualitative methods such as participant observation, semi-structured interviews, the preparation and implementation of a reading project called "Rodas de Leitura" and the use of the technique of portfolio. The research was conducted in 2007, with the participation of students, teachers and the staff of the School. It was aimed, firstly, to know the reality of the practices of reading at the EAF-Codó/MA so that it would be possible to contribute for the formation of readers in the mentioned School, for that, it was also necessary the use of field research, in addition to technical research already mentioned. Counting with the first datas collected, the Rodas de Leitura Project was started as a mean to evaluate more directly the way the practices of reading were present in the lives of students and teachers. The analysis of interviews revealed a reality in which the reading is there, but is not fully used within school, and that is because, among several factors, the underestimation of methodologies and projects designed to motivate the reading practices, and that plus the less access to the low titles offered by the school's library, that institution considered the reference for reading at school. The analysis of the research materials produced by students, along with the production of Portfolio, collected during the Rodas de Leitura Project, showed that the existing practices of reading at School can be enhanced if conducted in a more dynamic way also concerned with the social dimension that is part of the live of each subject in the research.
