O Exército no processo de redemocratização em 1945

Abstract

This paper analyzes the performance of the Brazilian Army summit in the context of the last moments of the Estado Novo and the overthrow of Vargas from power in 1945. The study in question was constructed from three sets of sources. The first set are secret reports organized in the Office of the War Office of the General Secretariat and Newsletters years of Information Secret 1944 and 1945 , deposited at the Army Historical Archive ( Ahex ). These sources indicate the main concerns of the military leadership in the years 1944 and 1945. The second set are the settlements of some military members of the military leadership in 1945 , also deposited in ( Ahex ) . These sources can be identified the development of military career , the interaction between these military throughout his career and, finally , the military elite, which defined the army action strategies in 1945. The last set are missives sent to Major General Division Pedro Aurelio de Goes Monteiro and others sent by him in 1944 and 1945. These sources were directed to the general Goes by members of the military leadership and members of civil society. They signal alliances and joints, which occurred between the military and between them and civilians.The main objective of this study is to understand the role of the army in democratization process in 1945.
