Concepções e práticas de assistência estudantil no Campus Ariquemes do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Rondônia

Abstract

This dissertation aims to examine how the ideological and political conceptions present in the current federal government and in the Brazilian society has influenced the thinking and acting of individuals who work in the conduct of student assistance policy of educational institutions belonged to the Brazilian Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education. The undertaken analysis assumes that the political student assistance is the result of intense historical struggles of Brazilian social movements against the interests of the hegemonic class who tries, at all costs, keeps the servile State to the interests of the big capital. So, the professionals who work in the student assistance area possessors of ideological conceptions of transformer bias, of the distinct character, of the dominant conception, have to face the next challenge: how to act critically and transforming way face to the intense and constant offensive of the capital in the contemporary world to keep the social order of production and reproduction of the material life? Expecting to answer this question, the undertaken research has as study object the structure and function of the work of student assistance of a school unit of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education, namely: Campus Ariquemes of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rondônia (IFRO). This is a basic research, of qualitative analysis, of explanatory character, which combines research techniques of type collection with documentary research techniques, since it makes use of interviews, participant observation and analysis of primary and secondary sources. From the analysis of the collected data, it was found that beyond from the dozens of problems of organizational and structural order and lack of human, financial and material resources, the main problem that the institution faces is the lack of awareness on the part of its subjects about their own reality, especially what relates to student assistance, so that we can consider that the investigated subjects, mostly, are alienated. In conclusion, the work implies that, given the neoliberal offensive in the contemporary world, the professionals who work in student assistance in the institutions of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education and choose for a transformative and distinct action from that which fits in the limits of the dominant order, need to acquire a consequential professional placement through the dissemination of the activities they undertake and the quantitative and qualitative data that raise, as well as the documents that systematize. These professionals have still to establish a process of communication among themselves and the school community, composed mainly of members of the lower classes. For this, they need to invest on their own training. Only by this way, they will be able to demonstrate the indispensability of the student assistance policy and, in fact, contribute to guarantee the rights of social assistance of the students belonged to the popular classes.
