Relacionamentos abusivos: representações sociais de universitários(as)

Abstract

Youth is the age when intimate and affective relationship are triggered with greater intensity. Thus, gender issues and social roles are often activated and associated with behavioral models in affective relationships. In this context, the place of man and woman suffers several crossings of values and principles consensual in culture. The university, in spite of being a locus of constant expansion of knowledge and exchanges, is also a place of expression, and often, of the beginning or continuation of affectively directed interpersonal relationships. In this sense, the research focused on abusive relationships because it identified whether it is a historical phenomenon, socially constructed and transformed, which involves a repertoire of issues that permeate the social construction of gender, emotional relationships and gender violence. It was intended, through the Theory of Social Representations (TSR) to apprehend cognitive aspects, beliefs, values, opinions, in the form of a knowledge that is elaborated and shared by members of a group of belonging, therefore, to investigate the possible existence of social representations about abusive relationships university students that configured the general objective of the study. The research was conducted in October 2020, with 210 university students from 09 universities in Rio de Janeiro and 01 from Rio Grande do Sul, public and private, through link sharing through social networks. The results indicated that the social representations for Abusive Relationship presented themes such as Fear, Anger, Violence, in addition to Possessiveness, Machism, Dependence and Low Self-Esteem as meanings attributed by the young university students to the studied phenomenon.
