Cineclube Mate Com Angu: periférico ou o centro de uma outra onda cinematográfica?

Abstract

This work aims to present and discuss the Mate Com Angu Cineclub by analyzing a process in which people organize themselves to show films, be together with people with the same life aspirations and that the very dynamics of the process leads them to a path that neither they themselves, the participants, could wait. Based on the ethnography of Mate Com Angu and the bibliography used throughout the text, there is an attempt to demonstrate how it is possible to collectively activate collaborative networks that affect new networks and, thus, build fields of local and extra-local possibilities (social capital). The text appropriated a wide range of theoretical references to address and expand the object, helping to understand how the Politics of Place can help to understand the movements that occur in the territory, the possibilities for the field to affect the researcher and how the researcher's movements are routinely affected, crossed by multiple structural and affective situations in each research context. The research is about film clubs, but Mate Com Angu is the motto for a broader debate on self-image, self-representation, production and updating of new senses and meanings in the field of image production, as well as possible arrangements for each social grouping. This dissertation developed, from its fieldwork, a reflection on the dichotomy center X periphery, by questioning whether it is acceptable or not to understand that there is a center from which all other social interactions would be peripheral or if only the projects made outside global or regional centralities have their own centralities.
