Circular, empreender e evitar: sobre como se movem as mulheres em uma favela da zona oeste carioca

Abstract

In this work l seek to presente the Rola favela located in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, west of Rio de Janeiro. The Rola favela borders the Antares and Ceezarão favelas. It is in these territories, surrounded by their struggles for power, domination and articulation because of the dispute between drug dealers and militiamen over these territories, that the trajectories of different women´s lives are inserted. For the purposes of this work, I chose to work on the trajectories of two women who live in the Rola favela. Rediane, a woman who is characterized by her work dynamics, with emphasis on her relationships with residents, drug dealers and other women involved in these dynamics. Another chosen life trajectory is that of Marielma, a woman who works in the funk dance circuits, and whose life and body are marked by fear and insecurity. The plots of these women´s lives show ways of inhabiting urban borders, but not statically, but fluidly, in the sense that both move in this scenario made up of clashes that seem to limit and enable the circulation of men and women in significant ways.
