O fracionamento granulométrico estuda a matéria orgânica do solo (MOS) reduzindo a heterogeneidade e separando em frações homogêneas quanto à dinâmica e função. Quanto as frações granulométricas, o SAF apresentou teores em MOp (0-5 cm) (11,5 % do N e 9,2 % do C) semelhantes à floresta nativa (12,3 % do N e 9,09 % do C).
Abstract: To evaluate whether soil quality can show, involve or integrate food production and preservation of the environment is a general objective of this work. Agroforestry Systems (AFSs) are examples of land uses that combine conservation and production, presenting diverse ecosystem services (ESs). Many of these SEs emerge from soil processes and, therefore, the monitoring of properties and attributes can assist in the evaluation of soil quality. The rapid diagnosis of soil structure (DRES) is a visual assessment tool of physical characteristics of the soil ideal for this type of study. The granulometric fractionation studies the soil organic matter (SOM), reducing the heterogeneity and separating in homogeneous fractions as to the dynamics and function. The objective of this work was to compare AFSs to land uses (UT) predominant in the region of Casimiro de Abreu e Silva Jardim (conventional agriculture, pasture) based on soil carbon and nitrogen contents and stocks, soil physical quality and fractions granulometry of SOM. The samples were obtained from layers of 0-5, 5-10, 10-20 and 20-40 cm of soil depth, including areas of forest fragments, used only as reference. The levels and stocks of carbon and total nitrogen (TN) of thin dry land (TFSA), of particulate fractions (OMp) and associated with minerals (OMam) of SOM were determined. DRES generated soil quality indexes (IQES), which also consider the presence and abundance of roots and soil cover. The forest fragments obtained the highest contents of C (14.55 g kg-1) and N (1.86 g kg-1) and differed more from the agriculture (10.47 g kg-1 of C and 1.22 g kg-1 of N). The AFS (13.02 g kg-1 of C and 1.50 g g kg-1 of N) presented a result closest to the forest fragment but did not differentiate from the pasture (12.2 g kg-1 of C and 1.31 g kg-1 of N) and agriculture. The stocks of C and N in the AFS (59.70 Mg ha-1 of C and 5.10 Mg ha-1 of N) were higher than those of agriculture (44.24 Mg ha-1 of C and 5.10 Mg ha-1 of N). As for the granulometric fractions, the AFS presented levels in OMp (0-5 cm) (11,5 % do N e 9,2 % do C) like the native forest (12,3 % do N e 9,09 % do C). The largest stocks in OMam (20-40 cm) were observed in the forest (94,5 % do C e 94,3 % do N) and in the AFS (93,2 % do C e 91,7 % do N). The forest fragment presented the best IQES (5.22), followed by AFS (4.93), Pasture (3.80) and Agriculture (2.55). The DRES resulted in soil quality indices that express the differences between land uses, besides having a good correlation with the stocks of C and N. AFS is the anthropic use that most conserves carbon stocks in the stable fraction of SOM in depth , and can be considered as a potential sustainable alternative for agricultural production and soil conservation in the studied region. The contents of the granulometric fractions of SOM are efficient in the identification of changes caused in the soil by use. DRES can be indicated as an easy-to-access tool for assessing soil quality in the practice of technical assistance and rural extension in addition to its own use by farmers and rural owners since it is easy, fast and relates to attributes related to soil functions.
