Dendrocronologia de Schizolobium parahyba ( Vell.) Blake na Floresta Atlântica

Abstract

The Schizolobium parahyba (Vell.) Blake popularly known as "guapuruvu" has distinct growth rings, as evidenced by the radial flattening of the fibers as well the superior thickening of the walls in latewood and the presence of marginal parenchyma, that makes it greater potential specie to dendrochronological studies. The aim of this study was to generate knowledge about the dynamics of growth of S. parahyba in a remnant forest on the Atlantic Rain in Rebio Tingua - RJ. For each selected individual were measured dendrometric data, such as height and diameter. Samples were taken from the trunk through a non-destructive method (increment borer) to 1.30 m height (DBH), in the direction bark-pith. Four spokes for each of the thirty trees of guapuruvu, were removed. Growth rings were defined and subsequently measured. To verify the synchronization of the width of growth rings was used the statistical program COFECHA. The program ARSTAN was used for removal the growing trends of the species. The S. parahyba showed good fit of the series of growth rings either individually or together. The species has sensitivity to climatic variations, showing good correlation with growth of the winter season.
