Experiência de ser mãe em situação de tensão extrema: narrativas de mulheres com filhos recém-nascidos na Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo Neonatal (UTIN)

Abstract

Historically speaking, there is a long time that puerperium is recognized as a critical moment with a high emotional risk. In this context, a current research appears as a goal to look at mothers whose children are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) who need special care for their lives maintenance. It searches through the narrative analysis to identify the maternal strategies for mothering in this context. Six mothers who had their babies hospitalized for more than five days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the South Fluminense University Hospital (HUSF) have participated of this research. The data were collected in two moments using Data Collection Technique, an open interview and a field diary. The results were obtained through the narrative analysis from the notes of the own researcher and through the maternal reports. This study shows that, in despite of the NICU context, some mothers seek strategies for mothering while others by other reasons don’t get a more centered speech on themselves and with their pain. They point the difficult of the interaction due to the obstacle of caring, the care here, seen as the possibility to facilitate the communication from the dyad. The humanization and the hostess are seen as an aid in mothering and the psychologist presence is pointed as a facilitator of the emotional organization of the mother for an after interaction mother-baby.
