A Criação do Curso de Agropecuária Orgânica do Colégio Técnico da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro/RJ – CTUR

Abstract

With the purpose of understanding the creation of the Technical Course in Organic Farming of the Technical School of the Federal Rural University Federal Rural / RJ (CTUR), pioneer in Brazil, we carried out a study about the conditions that contributed to its creation, occurred under the aegis of the Reform of the Professional Education (Decree 2.208/97 and resolution CNE / CEB 04/99), and its entanglement with the environmental issue. The research was developed from the relation of the technical education with the standards of economic domination in Brazil, and the concern with the environmental education that resulted in the creation of the technical course in organic farming in the context of the movements and the challenges relating to the environmental issue worldwide. Thus, the sequence of events that guided the decision-making by teachers from the farming technical area from the Technical School of UFRRJ had as background: the implementation of the Reform of the Professional Education in the CTUR and the protection of the environment through the production of food without or with less dependence on pesticides claimed by society. To achieve this goal, we make use of educational legislation and also the Brazilian environmental legislation, and the testimonies of the teachers of the Technical School, and official documents (minutes, bylaws, crafts) so we can understand the procedures of the materialization of the course in organic in the CTUR. The research pointed the challenge to the agricultural technical education, to the training in a holistic and interdisciplinary approach in the face of new rural, passing through the linkage between agriculture and the environment.
