Princípios Agroecológicos na Formação do Técnico em Agropecuária: Estudo de Caso da Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Vitória de Santo Antão-PE.

Abstract

The present work aimed to identify if the respondents have any knowledge agroecology and the possible application of agroecological principles in the formation of future EAFVSA Agricultural Technicians. The populations chosen were the students the 3rd grade of the EAFVSA Agricultural Technician Course; graduates of this institution; organic producers in the municipality and the teachers of the third grade of high school and professionals who work directly with these students. For the development of this The research was chosen by the case study and the instruments used for data collection were Semi-structured questionnaires applied to the 4 groups of subjects involved in the research. THE The approach to students started in February 2008, where it was applied in the first contact with them, the questionnaire in order to obtain information if the students had notions of agroecology and could relate the practices that they performed during the two first years in school with agroecological principles. Then a (10-hour) agro-ecology awareness seminar given by the student during the months of March and April 2008, using 1 hour class within the Forestry discipline. Upon completion of the awareness workshop, In June 2008, two technical visits with the students Alternative Technology Service (SERTA) in the Municipality of Glória do Goitá - PE, where the students learned about a non-formal school that uses agroecological processes in the Local Development Agent (ADL) training. The second was made to a producer Abreu e Lima - PE, where the students learned about agroforestry system. After these steps, the same questionnaire was applied to students with the confront if there were changes in the responses of the first quiz. At the same time in April, May and June 2008, the following questionnaires to graduates, organic producers and teachers professionals who teach this group of students, subjects of our research. In In February 2008, teachers were offered an 4-hour agroecology taught by Professor Jorge Roberto Tavares of Lima from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. We diagnosed among all researched that it would be important for the school to remain with the training of its technicians within a conventional agriculture, because it is still a matter of strong importance in the employability of this technician in the region, but could also provide the training of its technicians within the agroecological principles, in due to the growing demand for professionals trained in organic agriculture, which makes it a necessity for the school to train its technicians within a proposal which may lead to the economic, social and ecological development of the farmers and thereby lead them to sustainable rural development a quality of life for producers and consumers
